While serving at Tallahassee's Haven of Rest Rescue Mission from 1999-2009, the founding couple, Glenn and Beth Burns felt compelled to do more. The mission was not able to provide shelter for women and children and the need for this most vulnerable section of our community was evident. The Burns, who had raised a number of orphaned children, began by opening their personal home to women and families in crisis and encouraged others in the community to do the same.
Good Samaritan Network, Inc. was established to offer basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing but it goes much deeper. Program participants and guests are offered friendship and opportunities for personal as well as spiritual growth. This is accomplished through various outreach ministries and job readiness programs.
