About Us
Beth Burns, Director
Beth Burns, former school teacher, has dedicated her life to helping women who are experiencing the crisis of homelessness. She adopted three orphaned children and raised them primarily as a single mom until she met her husband, Glenn, who also shares her passion for the homeless, hopeless and hurting. Since the early 1980’s, she has gained experience in the field of medical social work as well as volunteering her time at a faith-based social service agency, inner-city chapel, rescue mission and various mission projects along with opening her own personal home to needy families which has collectively been the groundwork that paved the way to what is now known as the Good Samaritan Network (GSN). The organization, which is based in Tallahassee, Florida, was founded by Beth in 2007 after feeling compelled to help bridge the gap in services available to homeless women in the north Florida region. Hundreds of women have been helped through the organization’s various programs which includes their transitional home for women called Chelsea House. Beth’s passion to educate the community on awareness of issues and needs surrounding displaced women has been the message she has shared in university classrooms, churches, civic organizations, conferences and schools. Future plans include opening the Good Samaritan Village, which will allow GSN to expand their services to include single moms with children. Beth hopes to assist and inspire others to follow in her footsteps to duplicate the concept of GSN in cities everywhere, so that women will always have a resource to turn to during times of crisis.
